K-5 Quick Screener (K-5QS) is a quick test that identifies difficulties in children as young as kindergarten. The assessment looks into students’ cognitive, academic and social/emotional well being—something especially important since the effects of COVID19 have been widely documented.
The results of the screening will help teachers identify areas in which students may require extra support, and they can provide these children with a more challenging learning environment.
The screening is not meant to replace a comprehensive evaluation process, but rather to provide valuable information to teachers regarding children’s strengths and weaknesses so they can use it as a reference point when creating lesson plans or to help them identify additional resources that might be available for the students.
The screening will be offered to schools that have at least 6 students in each class and for a fee of $118 per student. The service assesses the entire class and each individual child, and it’s conducted by a team of specialists: a special education teacher, an occupational therapist, and a speech-language therapist.
